Twitter owner Elon Musk is looking to improve the company’s relationship with brands and roll back the site’s content rules after losing business following his acquisition of former NBCUniversal advertising executive Linda Yaccarino.
Twitter recently lost two executives charged with making sure the site moderates violence, hate speech, profanity and other content that businesses are hesitant to promote alongside their products.
The New York Times reported Monday that Twitter’s US ad revenue was $88 million in the five weeks to April 1, a 59% drop from a year earlier.
Elon Musk bought Twitter last October for $44 billion, signaling that he would only be in charge for a limited time to complete the organizational overhaul he thinks the company needs to thrive.
In December, when Musk asked his Twitter followers if he wanted to step down as CEO, 57.5% said yes.
