A 26-year-old woman has shared her shock diagnosis after breaking her knee while sitting on the toilet at her home. According to A The New York Post Reportedly, Bethany Eason from England started experiencing knee pain seven years ago (when she was 19 years old) and visited a doctor. She advised to take an X-ray. After looking at the picture, the doctor told her “there’s something there” and referred Ms. Eason to a therapist for treatment, the outlet continued.
But in February 2017, she felt a sharp pain in her left leg while climbing the stairs to reach her bedroom. So, she sat on the toilet seat and that’s when she broke her knee bone.
When he went to hospital, Ms Eason was told she had developed a giant cell tumor in her knee which had weakened the bones and surrounding soft tissue.
She was just returning from college when the shocking incident happened and Ms Eason never imagined the diagnosis would be earth-shattering.
Doctors told Ms Eason she would need knee and femur replacements because of the tumour.
“I was heartbroken — I used to dance and run and swim and I thought I’d never be able to do those things again. At that moment you see no way — when I had the surgery I was told that 99 percent of my patients don’t have full mobility after surgery,” she was quoted as saying by the outlet. .
Doctors said she would have to learn to walk again and would never wear heels again.
Ms Eason is now asking others to take pain and suffering seriously. Such tumors, which she said are “one in a million,” occur mostly in the long bones of the arms and legs, grow quickly, damage the affected bones and spread to nearby tissues.
