5 Points of Iran Unveiled Hypersonic Missile

Iran says the Fatah represents a generational leap in missile technology.

Iran launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile on Tuesday, Al-Jazeera reports. Named Fatah, it can travel at hypersonic speeds of 15 times the speed of sound and penetrate missile defense systems.

Here are the 5 points of Fatah:

  1. The hypersonic missile has a range of 1,400 km and uses solid propellants, giving it high maneuverability. Its name was chosen by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and translates as “opener”. Al Jazeera Report Said.

  2. Unlike conventional ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles fly on a trajectory low in the atmosphere, which allows them to reach their targets faster and is less likely to be intercepted by modern air defenses.

  3. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, announced at an event in November last year that they were developing a hypersonic missile.

  4. Iran says Fatah Represents a “generational leap” of missile technology. At a ceremony held last year, Hajizadeh said that no other missile could destroy Fatah because it travels in different directions and at different altitudes.

  5. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, IRGC Commander-in-Chief Hossein Salami and other top officials.
