After the Aguani-Sultanganj bridge in Bhagalpur collapsed on Sunday evening, the Bihar government issued a show-cause notice to the construction company on Tuesday.

“A show-cause notice is being issued to the construction company, and action will be taken against the contractors and engineers involved in the project who have already been removed. The bridge being a dream project will be constructed within a certain time frame.” of Chief Minister,” said Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.

The bridge was built to connect Bhagalpur and Khagaria districts over the river Ganges.

Meanwhile, as politics heated up over the bridge collapse in Bihar, state minister and Tejashwi’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of destroying the bridge.

“BJP has destroyed the bridge. We are building the bridge and they are destroying it,” Tej Pratap Yadav told reporters on Monday.

On the other hand, a PIL has been filed in the Patna High Court seeking an independent probe into the Aguani-Sultanganj bridge collapse in Bihar’s Bhagalpur on Sunday.

The petitioner, Manibhushan Pratap Sengar, in his writ petition, sought an independent inquiry instead of a departmental inquiry and action against the SP Singla company involved in the construction of the bridge.

The PIL also sought recovery of thousands of crores of rupees to the exchequer due to the collapse of the bridge.

Bihar Road Construction Department Additional Chief Secretary Pratya Amrit said on Tuesday that the investigation into the collapse of the under-construction bridge in Bihar’s Bhagalpur would be completed soon and a new bridge would be constructed.

Speaking to ANI, Pratya Amrit said, “We will try to complete the investigation as soon as possible. We have issued a show-cause notice to SP Singla & Company as to why they should not be blacklisted.”

“They have been given 15 days to respond. For gross dereliction of duty, the Bihar State Pool Construction Corporation executive engineer posted at Khagria has been suspended and departmental proceedings have been initiated,” the top official said.

“The managing director of Bihar Bridge Construction Corporation has also shown why there was a delay when the directive to completely demolish Pier 5 was very clear. A new bridge will be constructed.
