Team India completed the proceedings in three days to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

After bowling West Indies out for 150 in the first innings, India posted 421/5d on the back of centuries from debutant Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit.

Taking a first innings lead of 261 runs, India crushed West Indies by 130 runs for an innings and 140 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who took a total of 12 wickets, shone with the ball.

After the match, Rohit praised India’s premier spinners Ashwin and Jadeja, adding that players like them are always a luxury.

“I want to start by saying it was a great effort with the ball. They were bowled out for 150 and it set the game up for us. We knew the batting was going to be tough and getting runs was not going to be easy. We knew we had to bat. Just bat once. Get over 400, we got out and bowled well,” Rohit said after the match.

“The results speak for themselves, they’ve been doing it for a while now. Not much to say about them, it’s about giving them the freedom to express themselves. The experience of these guys on pitches like this is always a luxury. Both Ash and Jadeja were excellent, especially Ashwin coming out and bowling like this,” he added.
