Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur is set to receive a stiff penalty and demerit points for criticizing the decisions of the umpires in the ODI series against Bangladesh. According to multiple reports, Harmanpreet will have to pay a fine of 75 percent of her match fee and will be given three demerit points. Upset with the nature of his dismissal, Harmanpreet even broke his stump after being dismissed during the third ODI. After the game, she openly criticized the officials’ decisions during the post-match presentation ceremony.

After breaking her stumps following her dismissal, Harmanpreet had a heated exchange with umpire Tanveer Ahmed over her lbw dismissal. They then attacked the umpires during the presentation ceremony. But things did not end there.

The Indian captain reportedly passed some comments to the umpire shortly before the post-match photograph, prompting the Bangladesh captain to be taken back to the dressing room.

“She will be fined 50 per cent of her match fee for the on-field incident (wicket-breaking) and 25 per cent of her match fee for representing herself at the presentation ceremony.” Cricbuzz An official was quoted as saying.

Harman will be handed a total of 4 demerit points for his performance in the match, the report added.

In the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet praised the Bangladesh team’s performance with the bat but the “pathetic umpiring” irked the Indian captain.

“They (Bangladesh) batted well, batted according to the situation. They were taking those very crucial singles. We leaked a few runs in between but we controlled the game well when we batted, but as I mentioned earlier, pathetic umpiring, we are really disappointed with some of the umpiring decisions,” she said.
