YouTuber and entrepreneur SproutA tweet about his massive weight loss 10 years ago may have inspired his fans and followers, but doctors and health experts claimed it was misleading.
On Monday, in a series of tweets, Ankur shared how he reduced his weight from 88 kg to 69 kg in August 2013. He also shared details of his recent weight loss plan after shedding 8 kg.
Ankur claims in his tweets that he followed a high-protein diet and intermittent fasting for his recent weight loss, which saw him lose 8 kg and 4 inches from his waist.
“As a vegetarian who doesn’t really like eggs, I realized my diet was high carb and low. I changed the order. Today, my diet consists of lots of paneer, nuts, lentils, quinoa and peanut butter. With a daily dose of whey protein,” he tweeted.
In intermittent fasting, he says, the fasting period is increased from 15 hours to 18 hours. “For the last 8 years, I was fasting for 15 hours (last meal at 630 pm, next meal at 930 pm – 3 meals / day). I changed it to 18 hours fasting (last meal at 5 pm, next meal at 11 am – 2 meals / day) ).No loss of energy, no hunger, an unreal light feeling,” he tweeted.

Ankur says that during a 6-hour meal, he consumes around 1500 calories. “It’s crazy how much our bodies adapt. The first week was tough. But even the day after that. I could have eaten a big Domino’s pizza earlier. Now I’m full with 1 slice (if)!,” he says of the calorie intake.
While his lifestyle habits were praised, netizens questioned his choice to share the supplements he says were recommended by his fitness trainer.
In tweets, Ankur shared e-commerce links of supplements he used to lose weight. “These are Amazon affiliate links. I get an affiliate income if you click on these links and buy. 100% of that income goes to sponsor the education of children who can’t afford it. Helped 123 children in 2022 with donations. 54L,” he tweets.
Entrepreneur shared e-commerce affiliate links for whey protein, omega 3, vitamin D3, ashwagandha, curcumin, vitamin B and creatine.
Many netizens dismissed Ankur’s claims; A detailed tweet by Dr Abby Phillips, whose Twitter account reads “Liverdoc“Attracted everyone’s attention.
Hepatologist has tweeted on the supplements shared by Ankur.
In a lengthy tweet, Dr Phillips shared information about common supplements used for weight management, which Ankur shared. Whey protein is for athletes, sportsmen, bodybuilders and people with chronic liver and kidney disease, says Dr Phillips in his tweet.
“Omega 3 supplements are only useful for people with high triglycerides and lowering high non-HDL. Creatine is only for muscle bulking and improved endurance (since creatine is an energy source). A major side effect is weight gain because it absorbs water. Tissue. It’s not for everyone, serious/pro bodybuilders. Only,” he says in his tweet. “Some supplements (ashwagandha, curcumin) are liver toxic in at-risk groups, causing dose-independent liver damage even in healthy people,” he says in another tweet.
Many netizens have questioned the clinical evidence of using these supplements.
