These new guidelines place special emphasis on promoting better lane discipline and reducing congestion through strategic positioning with intuitive guidance to drivers. These guidelines will be applied to all upcoming nations in stages; Highways, Expressways and Greenfield Corridors. Additionally, highways experiencing high traffic volumes with more than 20,000 passenger car units (PCUs) will be prioritized for implementation of new road signals.
With such practices, the MoRTH said it aims to provide a safer travel experience for all commuters, further moving towards accident-free roads.
