An officer was martyred in a “suicide blast” inside a mosque in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, police said.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ashfaq Anwar said Dawn.com Additional Station House Officer (SHO) Adnan Afridi was part of the police party that chased the alleged Chaveer and died in the blast.
He said that the police team reached the spot after receiving information about the presence of suspicious persons. Seeing the police, the suspects ran away.
“They entered the mosque during the manhunt in which Additional SHO Adnan Afridi was martyred,” the CCPO said, adding that “one of the accomplices of the late bomber was arrested”.
