70,000 tourists were evacuated from Himachal due to floods

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu said on Saturday that the operation to evacuate locals and tourists stranded in Himachal Pradesh due to floods following heavy rains has been completed.

He said that around 70,000 tourists have been evacuated and around 500 tourists have voluntarily decided to stay in the state.

15,000 vehicles have been sent from the state. Along with this, electricity, water and mobile services have been temporarily restored in 80 percent of the disaster-affected areas.

Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to restore essential services at the remaining places as soon as possible.

He congratulated various agencies of NDRF and Indian Army for the successful rescue operation. The calamity is huge and the loss due to flood is around 8,000 crores.
