Rei Tachikawa will wear jersey #8 at Jamshedpur FC.
Further strengthening its midfield, the Men of Steel signed Japanese sensation Rei Tachikawa for the upcoming season.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins from Malta Sirens FC where he made 23 appearances and scored two goals last season. The Japanese player brings plenty of experience playing in the Maltese Premier League, having previously played two years at Santa Lucia from 2019-2021.
Born in Japan, Rei made his name in Europe in 2018 after leaving local club Osaka Uni H&SS to join Portuguese side Perafita. A move to fellow Portuguese side Felgueras soon followed, before his love affair with the country of Malta began when he moved to Santa Lucia in 2019.
“I am very excited to finally come to Jamshedpur FC,” said Rei Tachikawa on joining the Men of Steel.
“The club has proven its worth on a national stage by winning trophies and entertaining the fans and I am very happy to finally be here. The culture of India and Jharkhand is unique and unique and playing football here is a challenge that I welcome with open arms. I am confident that I can make the team more successful this season.
Expertise is what brings Tachikawa Spades to Jamshedpur. A midfielder by design, he can also operate in a number of attacking positions across the park to complement the team’s attack, making him a nuisance in the opposition’s half.
“Rei Tachikawa is a player that makes people sit up and take notice,” said Jamshedpur FC head coach Scott Cooper.
“He is a technical, high-tempo player who can get forward with both feet and his head and score goals. His passing game is great and he’s very competitive. He has also played in Europe and I think he will be a great signing for us.
The club can also confirm that Rey will wear the number 8 shirt for the Men of Steel in the upcoming campaign.
