Several villages in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur were inundated overnight

Several villages in Dasuya sub-division were inundated following heavy rains, prompting authorities to evacuate some residents to safer places, officials said.

Some complained that their household appliances were damaged by the water.

In the sub-mountainous region of Dasuya on Saturday night rains inundated farms in various villages including Ghogra, Haler, Sonspur, Bisochak, Sagran, Pawan, Bamiyal, Jio Chak, Dhadhar, Behbowal, Ghankoval and Jalalchak. Tow, mand, pander, officials said.

Hoshiarpur Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said some residents of Gogra have been shifted to a community center and Dharamshala in the village.

Chickens in a poultry farm were swept away by floods in Geo Chak village, they said.

Mittal said that the district administration officials are at the spot and are closely monitoring the situation and there is no need to panic.
