The IMD has predicted heavy rains in Telangana in the coming days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted moderate to heavy rainfall at most places in Telangana over the next few days.

A warning has also been issued for the possibility of very heavy rains along with very heavy rains at isolated places in many districts over the next three days.

In its seven-day forecast and weather bulletin for farmers in Telangana, issued on Monday night, the Meteorological Center said very heavy to very heavy rains are likely at isolated places in various districts from 8.30 am on July 25 to 8.30 am on July 28.

Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places in various districts from 8.30 am on July 25 to 8.30 am on July 29.

Meanwhile, the heavy rains in Hyderabad on Monday evening led to water logging in many places. This slowed down traffic and made it difficult for those returning from offices. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) Director N Prakash Reddy appealed to the people of Hyderabad to avoid unnecessary travel and venture out only if necessary. Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams are on alert and citizens can contact GHMC over telephone for help, the director said in a tweet. As a precautionary measure, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan appealed to the people to be vigilant and stay safe. GHMC Mayor Vijaya Lakshmi R Gadwal directed the zonal commissioners of the civic body to review the situation to prevent loss of life and property due to heavy rains. They also said that EVDM officials should take steps to drain the rainwater. Meanwhile, due to the possibility of heavy rains, the Telangana unit of the BJP postponed its dharna on Tuesday to put pressure on the BRS government to implement its promise of double-bedroom houses for the poor.
