4th G-20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group meeting tomorrow in Chennai

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) (India), July 25 (ANI): The fourth Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) meeting will begin on Wednesday, ahead of which a press conference was held to inform about the work done so far on environment and climate sustainability.
In a press conference, India’s Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MOEFCC), ADG (Forest) Bhivash Ranjan, MOEFCC Associate Secretary Richa Sharma, MEA Joint Secretary Aisha Sinha and MoEFCC Associate Secretary Naresh Pal Gangwar address a press conference at Grand Hotel ITC, Chennai.
In the Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group meeting, several global economic issues like agriculture, anti-corruption and education were discussed, Richa Sharma told a press conference.
Richa Sharma said that India has prioritized issues like land degradation, ecosystem restoration, biodiversity and water resources during its tenure as G20 President; A sustainable and sustainable blue/ocean-based economy; and resource efficiency and circular economy.
She added that on July 28, 2028, the Indian Presidency, in collaboration with Japan, will publish the fifth report on action against marine plastic litter under the G20 framework for marine plastic litter.

Climate change is a cross-cutting element across all ECSWG’s thematic priorities.
At the first G20 ECSWG meeting concluded in Bengaluru, members expressed their support for the resolutions of India’s G20 Presidency and initiated thematic discussions. Thematic site visits to Bannerghatta National Park and Kalkere Arboretum were also conducted.
The second G20 ECSWG meeting concluded in Gandhinagar. Thematic presentations were made on water resource management and other priorities. During this time, thematic site visits were also conducted to Adalaj Wav, Sabarmati Siphon and Escape on Narmada Main Canal.
During the third G20 ECSWG meeting, a mega beach clean up event was organized with 20 countries (14 G20 and 6 invited countries) from 13 states and union territories of India with 16,000 volunteers. Organized the Ocean 20 Dialogue covering science, technology and innovation policy governance and establishing partnerships and blue finance mechanisms. The ECSWG also discussed outcome documents.
The 4th G20 ECSWG meeting is being held in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Government will be represented by State Industries Minister TRB Raja and Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu.
In conjunction with the event, a projection and dance show showcasing the unique culture and artistic heritage of Tamil Nadu will be organised. More than 50 dancers and artistes from Tamil Nadu will participate in it and will also have 3D projection and laser show. (ANI)
