New Delhi (India), June 6: A leading figure in the Bollywood industry since 1996 (born 16 September 1980), known for his rich tonal quality and unique sense of musical arrangement, he has now become a social media sensation. That too! Having established himself as a singer, composer and arranger, he has left no reason to confine himself to Hindi. His hit list includes projects that require him to adapt to Bengali, Assamese, Bhojpuri, Punjabi and various Indian languages. A hit among the youth, his live shows are real crowd-pleasers.
Rohan Arjun is known for his memorable superhits, which include the iconic arrangement of the song “Mash Allah” from the movie “Ek Tha Tiger” under the music director duo Sajid-Wajid. His remix song “Dil Nayo Lagda” from the film Tess is a blockbuster through Ishtar Music (formerly known as Venus Records). He knew exactly how to appeal to the youth and that’s how he arranged the English version of Tata Young’s “Dhoom Machale”. In the 90s, parties were incomplete without remixes from the best-selling albums “Baby H” and “DJ Hot Mix”. He has proven time and time again that he is at the forefront of his generation; Without wasting a single day, the Bengali film industry (Tollywood) introduced remixes in the form of the best-selling albums “RD Club Mix” and “Kalyani Black Label Strong Superhits” (both by Saregama Music). He is known for his background scores for the films “Life in Park Street” directed by Rituparno Ghosh, “Bhorer Pakhi” directed by Tapan Dutta and “Kolkata – The Metro Life” directed by Rohin Banerjee. He became famous overnight in the Bhojpuri music industry with his composition “Rajay Bina Rathiya Kaise Kathi” from the album Kehu Luthera Kehu Chor (released by Saregama Music).
Rohan graduated from Arjun Julian Day School and then from Ashutosh College, Kolkata with Honors in Physics. Apart from being a professional vocalist, he finds great interest in flying airplanes and helicopters. A foodie at heart, he enjoys Chinese and Indian cuisine. He likes to indulge in casual chats over a hot cup of coffee.
Music was in his blood since his father was an enthusiastic singer and his mother was trained in classical vocals. He began to feel a passion for music and completed his 5th year diploma in Tabla from Chandigarh Prachin Kala Kendra. After that, he pursued his interest by taking sitar lessons from Pt. Deepak Chaudhary, disciple of The Sitar maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar. By this time, he had developed a good sense of music and tried his hand at light music. There was no stopping him now as he bagged the opportunity to score the background of talented recitalist Brathati Bandyopadhyay. Along with that, he started trying his hand at live shows as a singer and also started his journey as a creator of memorable remixes.
News of his upcoming projects are doing the rounds in the industry. Duet “Yaad Piya Ki Ane Lagi” by Music Label T-Series is coming soon. The music label belongs to T-Series. The song “Gabru” was recreated by Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Rohan Arjun. to music label T-Series. Patronized by composers like Vishal & Sheikhar, Pritam and Himesh Reshammiya, the upcoming Playbacks will be released under the banners of Yash Raj Films, Saregama Music, Sony Music India and T-Series. The remix projects, “Ek Haseena Thi” will be released by Saregama Music, while the new Punjabi composition “Gori Nakra Tera” will be released under the banner of T-Series.
