Christ (considered a university) recently hosted the 9th Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on ‘Service Learning’ at its central campus.
Dr Rajesh Tandon, Founder Director of Society for Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), a voluntary organization, delivered the keynote address. The conference was attended by representatives from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and many other countries.
The conference is divided into three subthemes to facilitate broader understanding and research on service learning. Service-learning: sub-themes are curriculum design, pedagogy and student engagement; Strategy for Community Participation, Engagement and Empowerment; and approaches to community-based participatory research.
Through the conference, participants were exposed to service-learning methods, theories, and methodologies. The conference hopes to forge partnerships and collaborations among institutions and strengthen regional networks of service-learning practitioners and researchers.
