Harmanpreet Kaur created a lot of controversy during and after the Indian women’s team’s disappointing tie in the third ODI of the series against Bangladesh. During the match, the Indian women’s team captain was dismissed LBW and was extremely displeased with the decision, thus uprooting the stumps in anger with the bat. Even after the match, she clearly expressed her displeasure with the shocking umpiring that had persisted throughout the series. In the photo session after the game, Harmanpreet Kaur gestured to the umpires to join the Bangladesh team. She has received criticism from all corners for her controversial actions and it looks like she will face some heavy punishment.

Harmanpreet Kaur will be fined 75 percent of her match fee, according to a report by Cricbuzz. Her antics in the post-match press conference will have 50 per cent deducted from her fee, but she will be fined 25 per cent for breaking the stumps during the game.

“She will be fined 50 per cent of her match fee for the on-field incident (wicket-breaking) and 25 per cent of the match fee for representing her at the presentation ceremony,” a Bangladesh Cricket Board official told Cricbuzz on condition of anonymity.

Also, the Indian women’s team captain will be given four demerit points – one point for arguing with the umpire and three points for her shocking antics on the field, the report said.

Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana also expressed displeasure with Harmanpreet’s antics during the photo session. Bangladesh players walked off the field protesting the behavior of the Indian captain.

“It’s totally her problem. I have nothing to do with it. She could have behaved better as a player. I can’t say what happened, but being there with my team (for the photo) was not right. It was not the right atmosphere. That’s why we came back. Cricket is a game of discipline and respect,” Nigar said.
