KKR and Uttar Pradesh batsman Rinku Singh recently received his maiden India call-up for the Asian Games 2023 in China in September-October.
The left-handed batsman recently had a smashing IPL season where he impressed everyone with his power hitting, cool demeanor and elite ball-smacking skills, thus many claimed him as the best finisher in IPL 2023.
Rinku Singh ended the season as KKR’s highest run scorer with 474 runs at an average of 59 and a strike rate of 149. The southpaw delivered one of the greatest moments in IPL history when he smashed Yash Dayal for 5 sixes off 5 balls when 28 were needed.
His scintillating IPL form and domestic numbers earned him India’s first ever call-up to the Asian Games in China.
Rinku Singh hails Suresh Raina as “King of IPL” and his idol
Rinku Singh Recently gave an interview to the website RevSportz where he talked about his idol Suresh Raina from Uttar Pradesh. Rinku branded Suresh Raina as the king of IPL and threw light on how Raina helped him in his career. He mentioned Harbhajan Singh and thanked him for his inputs on the play of the youngsters.
Suresh Raina is my idol. I am in regular contact with him. He is the IPL king and he shares his inputs with me. He has helped me a lot in my career. Bhajju Pai (Harbhajan Singh) has also helped me a lot in my career. I am grateful for their support, whenever such big players talk about you, it motivates you to push yourself further,” Rinku told RevSports in an interview.
Speaking about his IPL 2023 season, Rinku Singh said it was the most memorable season of his career.
“The IPL was great. Those five weeks were unforgettable. I think those who know me today are because of those five weeks and I am grateful for that. But in my mind, those five weeks, the IPL that I had, those are things of the past, I have forgotten that.
“Now I’m back to my daily routine. The routine is back, gym sessions, net sessions – everything is back to normal. Whatever work I do is for the future. Hope to do well in whatever opportunities we get in the future,” Rinku added.
