The Deodhar Trophy, an inter-zone List A competition, started on July 24 at Seachem Stadium and Prabhsimran joined the North Zone team soon after returning from Sri Lanka. He was a part of India A team Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Pakistan lost to Shaheen in the final on 22 July.
In the 39th over of South Zone’s innings, number five Bhui tried to ramp off Mayank Yadav but was caught off guard by an angled delivery. He only managed to glove it and the ball barely traveled but floated in the air towards the first slip region.
Prabhsimran sprang into action: flying to the right, he made a full-length dive and caught the ball with one hand. Remarkably, he initially moved to the left before correcting his course, leaping diagonally to follow the path and complete the grab. Bhui got out with 31 runs off 39 balls.
N Jagadeesan’s 72 runs and Mayank Agarwal and Rohan Kunnummal’s opening partnership of 117 runs helped South Region post 303-8 in 50 overs. Mayank Markande and Rishi Dhawan picked up two wickets each and Devdutt Patikal took a catch for Prabhsimran.
Prabhsimran went to the Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka but did not get a game. Earlier this year, he scored his maiden century in the IPL, becoming the seventh uncapped player in the tournament’s history to do so.
