Bolden scores his first goal for the Philippines in the FIFA World Cup

Sarina Bolden made history after scoring the debutant Philippines’ first goal at the FIFA World Cup to give her side a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute against co-hosts New Zealand on Tuesday.

Getting on the end of Sarah Eggeswick’s cross from the right, Bolden made no mistake heading the ball into the net from close range.

Bolden began his professional career with Swedish club Sandvikens IF in 2019, before moving to Xinbei Hangyuan in the Taiwan Mulan Football League in 2020. She later played for the San Francisco Nighthawks of the Women’s Premier Soccer League in the United States.

In June 2021, Bolden was signed by Elfen Saitama of Japan’s WE League. She saw her side lose 1–4 after being brought on as a 62nd-minute substitute on her debut against Tokyo Verdy Beleza.

In December 2022, Bolden mutually terminated her contract with Elfen Saitama and moved to Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers, where she has one goal in six appearances.
