In the video, BK Hariprasad is heard saying, “I know how to make a CM and how to bring him down. Don’t ask anyone for alms. I will stand with my chest full. Being a minister is a different question.

“Society needs to be aware. Whether I will be a minister or not is a different question. I have already played a role in making five Chief Ministers in this country, be it Pondicherry (Puducherry) or Goa. In Jharkhand, I did it alone. In Haryana and Punjab, I did it with the AICC team,” said Hariprasad.

BK Hariprasad, who was not included in the Karnataka cabinet, was addressing a meeting of Billava and Ediga leaders in Bengaluru on Friday and gave an indirect warning to CM Siddaramaiah by saying that he knows how to pick and remove chief ministers.

“Siddaramaiah belongs to the backward class. We gave support in 2013 because we wanted everyone to be united,” said the Congress MLC.

Hariprasad also complained that politically, the Billava and Ediga communities were unable to come forward, and expressed his displeasure that they were being the victims of someone’s conspiracy.

Former Leader of Opposition in the Council BK Hariprasad and CM Siddaramaiah are both OBCs. Hariprasad belongs to the Ediga community, while CM Siddaramaiah hails from the Kuruba community.

Reacting to the viral video on Saturday, Hariprasad said he does not express resentment and accepts what he said as “truth”.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru later on Saturday, he said, “I will not take back what I have said. I will stand by what I have said. If I have not said it, it is not my word. Still, if I have said it, I will stand by my word.”

Addressing the rally, he claimed credit for making Bhupesh Baghel, a leader among backward classes, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh.

“So I know very well how to make someone chief minister or remove someone… I will not bow down or beg. Let me make this clear. If there is any injustice, ‘Koti Chennai’ (legendary Tulua twin hero) has thought about how to deal with it. Politics in Bengaluru for 49 years is not a child’s play,” he added.
