Indian father and son arrested for exploiting teenage girls in Canada

Calgary police have arrested a father and son accused of sexually abusing teenage girls who could not legally give consent because the age of consent in Canada is 16. Many teenage girls exploited them with alcohol, drugs and vape.

It all started when a 13-year-old girl went missing and called the police into action. During their investigation, they found that the girl was lured with alcohol, drugs and vapa in exchange for sex. They found that 24-year-old Sumrit Walia and his 56-year-old father Gurpratap Singh Walia had exploited several teenage girls.

In the case of the 13-year-old girl, she told the officers that she was in love with a 24-year-old man, which led to their entrapment. The events took place between December 2022 and May 2023. The father and son owned the Haddon Convenience Store and adjacent Premier Liquor, Wine & Spirits at 208 Haddon Road SW.

Officers arrested both men after serving a search warrant at a home in the northwest community of Panorama Hills. Police seized 975 grams of cocaine and seven country-made firearms. They also seized a computer with child pornography, drugs and drug paraphernalia, contraband tobacco, vape cartridges and breakable batons.

A case has been registered against both of them under multiple sections. Meanwhile, the victims have the support of the Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Center.
