Indian captain Rohit Sharma was furious after Ishan Kishan’s slow start. Rohit was keen to declare but Kishan took 20 balls to get his first runs on the board. India scored 421 runs on the board and took a huge lead of 271 runs.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma fumed with debutant Ishan Kishan during the third day of the first Test of the ongoing India-West Indies series in Dominica. The Indian captain did not hide his emotions and announced his intention to announce the team from the dressing room as Kishan struggled to leave.
Kishan started his innings with 19 dot balls, with nerves to make his debut clear, and the West Indies bowlers and fielders did their best to capitalize on it. It was at this point that Rohit got off his seat and told Kishan to go ahead.
On the 20th ball of his innings, Kishan took a single off the bowling of Alzari Joseph to score his first Test run. Ensuring that Kishan would not end his first innings in the longer format of the game without getting a run on the board, Rohit wasted no time in declaring the innings.
Ultimately, India managed to put a huge score of 421 on the board and secure a huge lead of 271 runs. The opening pair of Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma smashed a massive opening stand of 229. Huge score by Jaiswal. 171 runs on debut for Team India. This is the third highest score by an Indian and non-Asian on Test debut. Rohit scored his 10th century while Virat Kohli scored 76 runs.
Talking about Kishan, he replaces KS Bharath who did not perform well in his first five Test matches. With the prolonged absence of Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper position remains a major concern for the Rohit-led team, especially in red-ball cricket.
Kishan has played 14 ODIs and 27 T20Is for India.
