CASHION (KFDX/KJTL) – A Cashon woman is thanking her community for helping her after her shed fell behind her home in strong winds Thursday night.
Anna Toomey said she moved to the area from the metroplex because she wanted to be in a small-town environment with a tight-knit community feel. But on Thursday night, strong winds of 60 miles per hour blew into her backyard and overturned her backyard shed, trapping her two donkeys.
Twomey said she was devastated and reached out to the Cashion community on Facebook for help. She said, fortunately, people from several agencies came to help. Unfortunately, she said, she lost a colt. A neighboring vet was able to save another injured donkey. Toomey said he is grateful for the support he has received.
“I saw all those people coming to help, and it just made my heart feel good because part of why we were even in the community was building community support like that and seeing them all come together, the fire department, the police department, all the areas around here, the vet, the local businesses that brought their equipment.
Tumi said the shed was repairable and the injured uncle donkey was on the mend.
