Srinagar, July 16: Amarnath Yatra from Pahalgam and Baltal routes has been suspended due to inclement weather on Sunday, officials said.
They said no journey was allowed to proceed today from the traditional Nunwan Pahalgam base camp in south Kashmir and Baltal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
It is still raining at many places on both the routes and in the cave temple, which has made the road conditions slippery at some places, they said. In view of the bad weather, the authorities have decided to suspend the journey until the weather improves, they added.
Similarly, no pilgrim was allowed to go on foot or on ponies to offer his prayers on Friday.
With 21401 pilgrims visiting on Saturday, the total number of pilgrims who have visited the cave temple since the commencement of pilgrimage from July 1 has crossed two lakh.
