Amid a largely successful outing for the spinners in the first Test against the West Indies, former India captain and spin legend Anil Kumble stated that India might consider using Kuldeep Yadav on such pitches.
Kuldeep last played a Test for the Men in Blue in December 2022 against Bangladesh. The left-arm spinner is part of the Test squad for the home series against Australia. However, he did not get a place in the West Indies Test.
“Kuldeep should definitely be there because he is a great bowler. Leg spinners are very aggressive bowlers. They also concede runs but you have to take a leg spinner with you and take care of him. “You have to give him a chance whenever you get a chance,” Kumble said.
“Kuldeep is a very good spinner for Test matches. He performed well whenever he got the chance. There are many wrist-spinners in white-ball formats. “We don’t get to see them much in Test matches,” added the former Test captain.
According to Kumble, the current spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have performed well. He also appreciated Axar Patel’s all round shows. However, the spin mahan stressed that Kuldeep needs to be given matches wherever possible.
