Turnaround for Ravichandran Ashwin and Suryakumar Yadav

Turnaround for Ravichandran Ashwin and Suryakumar Yadav

Ravichandran Ashwin may miss the bus for the ICC World Cup to be held in India in 2023. He has not been part of the ODI squad for a long time as the selection committee has tried different bowlers. Suryakumar Yadav may also miss the upcoming global event as he failed to cement his place in the 50-over format of the game.

New chief selector Ajit Agarkar is in Trinidad to discuss important issues with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.

Ashwin cannot be ruled out. He has bowled well on Indian pitches and the selectors will make the call. “Ajith is West Indies and will discuss the squads for the Asia Cup and the World Cup with Rohit and Dravid,” BCCI officials told Inside Sport.

However, things are not looking good for the off-spinner. Ravindra Jadeja is the main spinner in white ball cricket. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav followed. Axar Patel is unstoppable in white ball cricket.

On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav has not scored enough runs to demand a place in the Indian team in ODIs. With KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer on the verge of regaining full fitness, SKY’s days seem numbered.
