Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Extreme heat continues in the valley. We reached 118 from Sky Harbor, breaking the record set in 2006. This made it 23 days in a row above 110 degrees and six days above 115. The heat advisory continues through Tuesday, so drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and stay in the shade!
There is a 40% chance of storms this evening and tomorrow. Most of the rain activity in the valley will be north of the metro area. This rain and the rain expected next weekend will be what the Valley needs to break this heat wave, but we’ll have to wait another week in the 110s to get there. Due to wind speed this weekend, there is a chance of some dust storms this evening.
We’ll break out of 115 on Monday with a high of 114, and temps will stay at 114 and 113 for the week, so the 110 streak continues. Lows this week will remain in the 90s, making for warm mornings. Next weekend has a chance of seeing lows in the 80s.
