Climate Hazards in Africa

  1. Flood conditions have improved in South Sudan, and flooding has decreased in the southern areas of the Sud wetlands.

  2. South Sudan is unusually dry.

  3. Central Somalia is experiencing a lack of rainfall due to early cessation of seasonal rains.

  4. Heavy, above-average rainfall in Ethiopia has caused flooding in the Shebelle River in central Somalia.

  5. Eastern Tanzania has been unusually dry since November due to below average rainfall.

  6. Maximum temperatures in central Mozambique and southern Malawi are forecast to be warmer than average and up to 30 degrees Celsius.
