Who will receive these prizes:
Meanwhile, severe storms and flooding that began on May 27, 2023, including heavy rain, flash flooding, dangerous wind gusts, and widespread, severe property damage in Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Deaf Smith, Garza, Hale, Lamb, Linn, Parmer, Potter, Randall, and Roberts counties; injuries or loss of life;
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me by Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, I hereby declare a state of disaster in the previously listed counties.
Pursuant to Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code, I authorize the use of all available resources of state government and political subdivisions reasonably necessary to respond to this disaster.
Pursuant to Section 418.016 of the Texas Government Code, any regulatory rule prescribing any order or law of a state agency that would prevent, obstruct, or delay the procedures for conducting state business or in any way necessary to respond to this disaster is suspended with the written approval of the Office of the Governor. However, because the enforcement of any state statute or administrative rule regarding contracting or procurement would impede the emergency response of any state agency necessary to protect life or property threatened by this declared disaster, I hereby authorize the temporary suspension of such statute or rule. For the duration of this declared disaster.
Copies of this announcement will be submitted to applicable authorities as required by law.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto signed my name and duly affixed my seal at my office in Austin, Texas, this 6th day of June, 2023.
