Bosses getting upset or angry about delayed or unmet goals is nothing new. But indulging in swearing at junior colleagues seems not acceptable, and that’s what happened to some officials of India’s leading mortgage lender, Housing Development Finance Corporation or HDFC.
A video of HDFC Bank senior staff Pushpal Roy abusing his juniors for not reaching targets has gone viral. A video of HDFC Bank vice-president abusing colleagues has sparked outrage online.

A leading lending bank has suspended a senior banker after the video went viral. Following the untoward incident, the bank issued a statement saying it has ‘zero tolerance’ for any form of misbehavior in the workplace and treats workers equally.

“This refers to a recent social media report. Based on a preliminary investigation into the matter, the employee concerned has been suspended and a detailed investigation has been initiated, which will be undertaken as per the Bank’s conduct guidelines. We at HDFC Bank have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of misconduct in the workplace and firmly believe in treating all our employees with dignity and respect. ” HDFC said in a statement.

In the video, the HDFC official in question, Pushpal Roy, cluster head of the Kolkata branch, can be seen abusing his colleagues and shouting abuse at them in Bengali.

“An employee concerned has been suspended and a detailed investigation into the incident has been initiated,” the bank said.

Social media users reacted with anger over the incident.

“Mr. Pushpal Roy, Manager of #HDFC Bank, behaved unprofessionally towards employees. I would have returned it on the spot. Don’t know why and how employees are putting up with it. He is totally frustrated and blatantly attacked employees. Should be sacked! ,” said a user on Twitter.
