Hero MotoCorp plans to acquire one of TVS’ most successful bikes, the Rider 125. Positioned as a premium 125cc motorcycle that works well on the TVs, Hero built a motorcycle to take away some sales from the TVS. .

The Gurgaon-based manufacturer has started road-testing of this upcoming 125cc premium motorcycle. Although it is completely under wraps, it is clear from these pictures that the bike is almost production ready and looks very stylish. The fascia features a sharp and angular headlamp unit with integrated LED indicators. The fuel tank is also quite large, with sharp edges to match the overall aggressive aesthetics of the motorcycle. The bike is equipped with split seats and feels quite roomy.

This upcoming hero motorcycle will get a 125cc engine in terms of performance. However, there is still no word on whether this engine will come from the Super Splendor Xtec. The Rider 125 makes 11.2 bhp of power, while the Super Splendor numbers 10.72 bhp. While it is clear that the company is pitching this new bike as a sporty commuter, it remains to be seen if the performance will be improved as well.

We expect Hero MotoCorp to launch this new 125cc motorcycle sometime next year. As far as pricing is concerned, Hero may undercut the Rider 125 at Rs. 87,000 for the drum brake variant. The most expensive variant is the one that comes with a Bluetooth cluster and is priced at Rs 100. 96,000.
