In a meeting with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Monday, Wang Yi, director of the Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called for concrete policies to be implemented in consensus to stabilize China-India relations.
Both sides should stick to the strategic judgment made by the two heads of state that “China and India pose no threat but offer each other development opportunities,” Wang said.
Noting that Sino-Indian relations will affect their development and the world situation, he urged both countries to enhance strategic mutual trust, focus on consensus and cooperation, and return bilateral relations to a healthy and sustainable development path as soon as possible.
He said China will never follow the same path as some countries seek hegemony and is ready to work with developing countries, including India, to promote multilateralism and democratization of international relations.
China believes that a non-hegemonic, egalitarian and orderly multipolar world will definitely come, he added.
Doval said India and China share broad common interests and both sides should rebuild strategic mutual trust and seek common development.
Doval added that India is ready to work with China to find a fundamental solution to the Sino-Indian border situation, promote the improvement and development of bilateral relations and make a positive contribution to world peace and prosperity.
