IPL 2023 Updated Points Table, Orange Cap & Purple Cap After Match 67 & 68, DC vs CSK & KKR vs LSG

Chennai Super Kings defeated DC in the afternoon match while Lucknow defeated KKR in the evening match to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs.

Lucknow Supergiants beat Kolkata Knight Riders by just 1 run at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Rinku Singh again became the center of attraction with his brilliant batting in the last overs. Chasing 21 runs in the last over, Rinku could manage only 16 runs in the last over. Batting first, Lucknow posted 176 runs on the board thanks to contributions from Nicholas Pooran (58) and Quinton de Kock (28). Jason Roy (45) and Venkatesh Iyer (24) put on a 61-run opening partnership for Kolkata to get off to a good start. KKR panicked in the middle overs and later, Rinku Singh produced a magical 67 off 33 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. Ravi Bishnoi has played well with the ball for LSG. He conceded only 23 runs in 4 overs and took 2 wickets.

Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by a huge margin of 77 runs. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings crushed the Delhi bowlers around the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. An excellent opening partnership of Ruthuraj Gaekwad (79) and Devon Conway (87) saw Chennai race to a huge score. Later Shivam Dubey (22) and Ravindra Jadeja (20) completed the innings with their brilliant guests. Chasing 224 runs, Delhi’s batting failed once again. Apart from captain David Warner (86), no one else could go for a big score. CSK’s Deepak Chahar (3/22) was brilliant with the ball and restricted Delhi to 146 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Points Table:

With the win against Delhi Capitals, Chennai moved to second place in the points table and became the second team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023. And Chennai Super Kings. Lucknow finished the league round with 17 points with a win over Kolkata. Kolkata finished eighth with 12 points. Chennai Super Kings will now face Gujarat Titans in a Qualifier 1 at Chepauk. Chennai have 17 points from 14 games. Delhi Capitals ended their campaign with just 5 wins this season. They are ninth in the table with only 10 points.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange Cap:

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is the Orange Cap holder with 702 runs from 13 matches. Chennai’s Devon Conway scored 87 runs against Delhi Capitals. With 585 runs from 13 innings, Conway jumped to third place in the innings race. Conway has been a consistent run scorer for CSK this season. Rajasthan Royals’ Yashaswi Jaiswal is second on the list with 625 runs from 14 innings. Jaiswal had a great IPL season and played some cracking knocks. Gujarat Titans Shubman Gill is at the fourth position with 576 runs. RCB’s Virat Kohli is fifth with 538 runs.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple Cap:

Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammad Shami is leading the Purple Cap race with 23 wickets. Rashid and Shami will battle it out for the Purple Cap when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. Rashid Khan follows Shami in the second position in the race with 23 wickets. Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal is third on the list with 21 wickets. Chahal was the Purple Cap winner of IPL 2022. Mumbai’s Piyush Chawla is fourth with 20 wickets from 13 games. He has a chance to take the lead against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kolkata’s Varun Chakraborty is fifth with 20 wickets.

What’s on in Sunday’s IPL?

The fourth team of IPL 2023 will be available in the playoffs on Sunday. Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings have already qualified for the playoffs and will face each other in Qualifier 1. Lucknow Supergiants are 3rd in the table and await their opponent in Eliminator 1. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Mumbai Indians on Sunday afternoon. Wankhede and then Gujarat Titans will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Both Mumbai Indians and Bangalore need a win if they want to enter the playoffs as the fourth seed. If both of them lose, Rajasthan Royals will cherish their luck as they got a better NRR than MI and RCB.
