India dominated the first Test in Dominica, beating the West Indies by an innings and 141 runs. Ravichandran took 12 wickets in the match as Yashvi Jaiswal shone in his maiden innings with 171 as India took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. It was an easy outing for India and the players could be seen having fun on the field. After bowling out West Indies for nine runs in the second innings, India felt a win. But then their number 11 Jomal Warrikan started hitting some extraordinary shots. Kohli, unable to hide his grin, grabbed the stump mic and asked, “Yeh kaun si bating kar raha hai (what kind of batting is this?”).

After India declared the afternoon session at 421 for five in the first innings, a better batting show was expected from the Caribbean batsmen, but they were not up to the task and were all out for 130 in 50 overs to secure a three-day game. Complete.
Ashwin followed up his 33rd five-wicket haul in the first innings with seven for 71 in 21.3 overs.
The result was predictable after West Indies were bowled out for 150 runs on the first day.
Yashaswi Jaiswal, who scored 171 runs on his debut, paved the way for India’s big victory. Virat Kohli contributed 76 runs off 182 balls but it was not in his flow.
The second and final Test will begin from July 20 at Port of Spain, Trinidad. India, who have not lost a Test against the West Indies since 2002, will be hoping to complete a clean sweep in the World Test Championship and pick up crucial points.
