Let’s save nature Let’s save environment: Kishan

Hyderabad, July 15 (NSS): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy today called upon countries to join hands to protect nature and environment. He highlighted the initiatives taken by the Government of India for the development of the tourism sector. He also said that the countries of the world will reach the time when the SDGs are set. Kishan Reddy said.

Kishan Reddy was speaking at a conference on economic development, social and environmental sustainability in the tourism sector at the United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF) organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in New York. India will be represented in the meeting. He highlighted India’s progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with policies and priorities adopted in the last decade with economic, social and environmental sustainability as the main agenda.

He said that the Modi government has been working towards environmental sustainability for the last 10 years. He explained that the agenda of the Tourism Working Group meetings was set and the vanguard was successful. He referred to the holding of Tourism Working Group meetings by the G-20 Presidency and the unanimous approval of the ‘Goa Road Map’ at the meeting of Tourism Ministers of G20 member and host countries held in Goa last month.

“In this Goa road map, Green Tourism (Achieving the right results by promoting sustainable, responsible and green tourism), Digitization (Establishing a framework through digitization to achieve sustainability and integrity in the tourism sector), Skills (Measures to increase employment and business, Efficiency in the tourism sector by enhancing the skills of the youth), Tourism MSMEs (Giving proper incentives to private sector MSMS and start-ups in the tourism sector),” he said.

He said that they have established ‘Youth Tourism Clubs and these clubs formed to promote tourism and environmental awareness among the citizens of India are showing positive results. Kishan Reddy invited them to ‘come to India’ to see the Government of India’s programs aimed at sustainability and integrity of the tourism sector.

United Nations General Assembly President Saba Koroshi, United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC) President Lashesara Stoyeva, Tourism Ministers of various countries, UNWTO Executive Council members, world tourism leaders and others participated in the event. (NSS)
