Maitra’s reaction apparently came in an interview with legendary wrestler Bajrang Punia. NDTVclaimed that the protesters were told by the government not to talk about their late-night meeting with Shah on Saturday.

‘Told not to talk about it’: Wrestler Bajrang Punia meets Amit Shah Wrestlers overcame fear and shame and spoke about how BJP MPs touched their breasts and buttocks in the FIR. So why can’t they just talk about a meeting with the Home Minister? What kind of intimidation is it? Mad,” TMC’s firebrand MP tweeted.

Punia, who along with Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat is leading the protest against Brij Bhushan demanding his arrest for allegedly sexually harassing seven women wrestlers, said the grapplers have no “setting” with the Union Home Minister and will continue their protest.

Punia told the news channel that the government asked them not to divulge their meeting with Shah, but they themselves leaked it to the media.

Punia said the home minister told the wrestlers that an investigation was underway. The grappler reiterated that the protest is not over and will continue.

‘Wrestlers not satisfied with government’s response’

Punia said the athletes are not satisfied with the government’s response, which is not agreeing to their demands. He asked Shah why Brij Bhushan was not arrested and protected and insisted that the wrestlers would not relent on the assurance of action.

On Saturday, protesting wrestlers met the Home Minister in Haridwar, days after they threatened to immerse their medals in the Ganga. The meeting lasted till midnight as spies pressed for the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan Singh.

Delhi Police visited WFI chief’s UP residence

The Delhi Police recorded the statements of the WFI chief’s aides and those working at his residence in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against him.

They also said that the girl’s statement was the basis for filing a case against Singh under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He recorded a fresh statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Officials said the police is gathering evidence regarding the case filed against the BJP MP and will submit a report to the court accordingly.
