Nine people, including five women, were arrested on Sunday in connection with the brutal murder of a woman in Saombung area of Manipur’s Imphal East district, police said.
The body of the 50-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to the face from her home on Saturday evening. The attackers mutilated his face before fleeing.
On its official Twitter handle, Manipur Police said nine people, including five women, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in KEB Heikakmapal Maning Ching area.
Two weapons, five rounds of ammunition and a car have been seized in the case, police said.
According to officials, the victim, who is believed to be suffering from mental health problems, belongs to the Maring Naga community.
Soon after his body was recovered, the police cordoned off the area and conducted a search. They also recorded the statements of people to identify the murderers and bring them to justice.
