Srinagar, July 15: The Meteorological Department has predicted generally cloudy skies and rain at some places in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Meteorological department officials said that mainly dry weather is expected from 16 to 20 Kashmir valley.
“Scattered light to moderate rain/thundershowers are expected from July 21 to 22,” he said, adding, “Overall, no heavy rain is forecast till July 25.”
Regarding the low temperature, officials said Srinagar recorded 20.2 degrees Celsius against 20.7 degrees Celsius last night and was 2.1 degrees Celsius below normal in the summer capital.
In Qazigund, it recorded 16.8 degrees Celsius against 17.2 degrees Celsius last night and the gateway town of Kashmir Valley was 0.3 degrees Celsius above normal, he said.
Pahalgam recorded 12.1 degrees Celsius against 12.7 degrees Celsius last night and the popular tourist resort of Anantnag district in south Kashmir was 0.1 degrees Celsius above normal, he said.
He said in Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 18.2 degrees Celsius from 16.6 degrees Celsius the previous night, while north Kashmir was 1.6 degrees Celsius above normal.
Kokernag recorded 16.5 degrees Celsius as against 17.5 degrees Celsius last night.
Gulmarg recorded 13.0 degrees Celsius against last night’s 14.0 degrees Celsius, while it was 1.2 degrees Celsius above normal at the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, he said.
Jammu recorded 26.6 degrees Celsius against 27.1 degrees Celsius last night, 1.8 degrees above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said.
Banihal recorded 17.8 degrees Celsius, Batot 19.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 22.6 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwa 17.9 degrees Celsius, officials said. (agencies)
