MS Dhoni could have continued playing for India…: Former player makes bold claim

Three years after retiring from international cricket, MS Dhoni continues to perform. He led Chennai Super Kings to two IPL titles after hanging up his boots from the international scene.

In IPL 2023, he scored his runs at a strike rate of over 180, which is the highest strike rate of his career. Although he did not bat much due to a knee injury, his contribution was valuable.

He recently underwent knee surgery and will be back to health in three months. The veteran is expected to make a comeback in IPL 2024. There is a question mark over his retirement from international cricket. Could he have given Team India at least one year?

Former Pakistan player Wasim Akram said that Dhoni could have played for India for some more time. Dhoni’s last match for India was the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

“Given his performances he could have played a bit more but he made the right call. Dhoni is Dhoni and knows what is best for him. If you are fit but not passionate, you cannot perform. He played all the games in IPL 2023 and is likely to return,” he added.
