The new environment enforcement boss is expected to get tougher on equity

Companies that violate environmental laws can now expect tougher scrutiny as David Uhlmann is confirmed to become the EPA’s chief enforcer, legal analysts predict.

No sharp crackdowns are expected, but as a Senate-confirmed official, Uhlmann now has the clout and authority to flex his muscles in ways that his predecessors—who served only in an acting capacity—could not.

University of Richmond law professor Karl Tobias said environmental justice is one of the areas where Uhlman is likely to work decisively.
