Pakistan will aim to win the series 2-0 as they open their World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 campaign with a win. Last year at the same time, Pakistan had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Sri Lanka won the second Test by 246 runs.

The start is likely to be delayed due to early morning rain. Rain is forecast for the second and third days. Sinhalese Sports Club last played a match in November 2018.
