Saturday’s high temperature at Portland International Airport reached 96 degrees as the Portland area issued a heat warning.

In comparison, Sunday is expected to be fairly mild, with a high of 89 degrees expected as cold air from the Pacific Ocean rolls over Portland into Monday. Clouds are expected to cover the Portland area on Monday as well, bringing the high temperature to 78 degrees.

That pattern changes Tuesday, said Hannah Chandler-Cooley of the National Weather Service in Portland.

The rest of the week in Portland will see sunshine with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
