Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking for new backroom staff after Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and coach Sanjay Bangar decided not to play in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The decision was taken following RCB’s poor performance in IPL 2023.
According to a report by Indian Express, bowling coach Adam Griffith’s future with the team is still uncertain even though the fan favorite franchise is looking for a new coaching staff.
Both Hessen and Bangar, who have been in their respective positions for five years, are said to have a strong bond with former RCB captain Virat Kohli.
The franchise is now desperate to have someone in the camp who can take on the breakout mindset and help them end their trophy drought. In the recently concluded season, the team did not even make it to the playoffs, much to the dismay of their massive fan base.
Who can replace Hesson and Bunger at RCB?
It is not yet clear whether RCB will choose a foreigner or an Indian head coach.
Other franchises have begun to shape their coaching setups in advance. Former Australian opener and coach Justin Langer has been appointed as the head coach of Lucknow Supergiants in place of Andy Flower.
Andy Flower is currently in talks with other franchises and may stay in the IPL as coach of another team.
