Madan Lal, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team, had demanded strict action against Harmanpreet Kaur for her misbehavior against the Bangladesh women’s team.
Harman was fined by the International Cricket Council for criticizing the umpires. The women’s captain was upset by two decisions and hit the stumps with her bat.
After the match, the Bangladesh captain misbehaved with Nigar Sultana. Kaur told Sultana to call the umpires to take a post-match photo as they influenced Bangladesh’s win.
The insulting remark prompted Sultana to leave the venue with the players. Madan Lal severely criticized Harmanpreet Kaur.
Harmanpreet’s behavior against the Bangladesh women’s team was pitiful. She is no bigger than the game. She has given Indian cricket a very bad name. BCCI should take very strict disciplinary action,” he wrote.
The apex body deducted 75 percent of her match fee and added three demerit points to her disciplinary account.
