The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the entire state of Connecticut on Tuesday.
The watch, in effect until 8 p.m., covers the tri-state area, warning that the storms could bring isolated hail the size of ping pong balls, gusts up to 70 mph and occasional lightning.
The thunderstorm comes before the state is expected to hit its first heatwave of the summer. Temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees on Wednesday, continuing through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
