National Meteorologist Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning for several counties in the South East this evening (Sunday, July 16).

The National Weather Service has warned that there will be thundershowers and lightening in some areas till 9:00 pm today.

Counties affected by a Status Yellow Thunderstorm Warning are: Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Tipperary, Waterford, Dublin, Wicklow, Laois, Meath, Kildare.

There will be sunny spells and showers this afternoon and evening. However, some showers will be heavy, with a chance of some isolated thunderstorms, especially in the east and south.

Maximum temperature ranges from 15° to 19°. The weather will be moderate westerly at times and fresher at times near the coast, Met Eireann said.

Tonight, the rain will be isolated and the weather will be dry and clear. Some fog may develop as winds reduce light with lows between 7° and 10°.

Tomorrow (Monday, July 17) will bring a high of 17° to 19°, with light, occasionally moderate, westerly winds bringing sunny spells and scattered showers.

According to the national forecast, it will become mostly cloudy in the southwest in the evening, with rain showers by the end of the day.
