WhatsApp is making a lot of changes from the design to the overall user interface to make the platform smoother and more user-friendly. It is also reportedly working on a new calling button along with a new context menu for beta testers on iPhones. With this new feature, platform users will see another calling button.
According to WhatsApp feature reporting website WaBetaInfo, the new icon will still allow group members to make group calls, but it will display a context menu where they can choose whether to make audio or video calls. According to the report, WhatsApp’s new calling button will now display a context menu instead of a sheet menu.
However, the new calling button feature is only available to beta testers of the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS through the TestFlight program, and more users are expected to get it in the coming weeks, the source said.
Meanwhile, it was reported last week that the messaging platform has started rolling out a ‘companion mode’ feature for iPhone users, which allows linking an existing account to a second iOS device.
With this capability users can connect up to four devices simultaneously, allowing them to attach more than two mobile phones to their WhatsApp accounts. The article claims that the platform will soon release a companion mode for iPad users. However, the functionality is still a work in progress and will be made widely available to beta testers in upcoming releases.
