JE Technology Desk: Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp launched its official chat account in March to allow users to receive the latest updates about the application, according to WABetaInfo. Although the official chat account sent messages to a random group at the time, the feature is now “rolling out broadly”.
The news outlet reported that the beta build is rolling out on Android at ‘2.23.15.10’. Account will share tips and tricks with users. It is rolling out to more users starting today. This wide release will allow many users to experiment with the chat account.
Why is WhatsApp on WhatsApp?
With Account, the instant messaging app aims to educate users about the settings they need to adopt for the security and privacy of their accounts. It also informs users about the latest features introduced in the app.
What has changed?
The welcome message’s UI interface is more intuitive for first-time users. The text and icons of the first prompt have been changed to allow users to better understand the feature. “This is a safe and official chat from WhatsApp. We use it to share tips, make notifications, and keep you informed about new features. We never ask for your personal information,” says the dialog box.
The message in the screenshot informs the user about a two-step verification option to “double down” on the privacy of an account. The feature will allow users to “set a PIN” to make their account more secure, WhatsApp said.
